All Bandit E-Bikes are equipped with a pedal assist system (PAS). This article explains what the PAS system is and how it augments your riding experience.
What is Pedal Assist?
Pedal assist is a bike feature that adds motor power to your pedal stroke. You can select a PAS level from 1-6 on most Bandit E-Bikes or choose PAS level 0 to ride without motor assistance. You can also ride your E-Bike using the throttle only.
How Does it work?
A magnetic ring and PAS sensor signal the controller to draw power from the motor. A signal is sent each time a pedal stroke is performed. The higher the PAS level, the more power is delivered, making pedaling easier.
Squeezing the brake levers while riding will cut off power to the motor and slow the bike. Releasing the brake will re-activate the PAS system when pedaling resumes. Turning the bike off will reset the PAS to 0.
What does pedal assist feel like?
Increasing your PAS level will tell the motor to deliver more power to your rear wheel, giving your E-Bike a bigger 'push' with each pedal. It's easier to get moving and takes less effort to keep going.
With PAS enabled, you can reach speeds of up to 28 mph. Using just the throttle will help you reach 20 mph.
Practice riding and braking at a lower PAS level before increasing it. Click here to learn more about safely riding your E-Bike.
